If you're shopping for HTML5 game code, CodeCanyon is the marketplace most buyers check first, and for some projects it's the right place. This page compares it with buying HTML5 games with source code directly from us. We checked every CodeCanyon fact on Envato's own pages on 25 October 2026 and link each one where it appears. Facts about us come from our catalog and our draft license terms. We're not affiliated with Envato; CodeCanyon and Envato Market are named only to compare.

How CodeCanyon works for HTML5 games
CodeCanyon is Envato Market's code marketplace. Its HTML5 games category says it offers over 8,800 HTML5 games made by its community of independent developers. Listings show the title, author, price and a Live Preview button, and some show sales counts. The category filters by price band ($4–$14, $15–$18 and $19+) but not by engine.
Item details name a software version. In a search for HTML5 blackjack, most results listed "HTML 5", Construct 2 or Construct 3. Because every item comes from a different author, code style, documentation and update habits vary item by item. Before you buy, play the live preview, read the description and comments, and check whether the item is supported.
Licenses: Regular and Extended vs Standard and Extended
On CodeCanyon, as of the terms last revised on 11 March 2025:
- The Regular License lets you use the item to create one single end product, for yourself or for one client, that end users don't pay to access.
- The Extended License is still limited to one end product, but you may sell that product.
- Neither lets you redistribute the item with its source files, as stock or as-is.
- Envato's license FAQ says there is no developer or multi-client license for themes and code items. For a game where only some parts are paid, the item needs the Extended License only if it's used in a part players pay to access.
Our licenses (draft terms, compared on the licensing page):
- Standard: one end product, yours or one named client's, with one production web deployment plus staging. Reskinning, rebranding and monetizing are allowed.
- Extended: up to 5 end products, including client work with source handoff to each client for that client's product only, or running the game on up to 3 portal domains your company owns. No syndication to third-party portals.
- Neither allows redistributing, reselling or publicly uploading the source.
The word "Extended" means different things in the two stores. Envato's adds the right to sell one end product; ours adds more end products or portal domains. Compare them by what you'll actually ship.
Support, updates and refunds
Envato's item support policy gives supported items 6 months of support from the purchase date, which buyers can extend to a maximum of 12 months from purchase. The item's author provides it. It covers questions about the item and help with bugs, and excludes installation and customization. Authors release updates at their discretion, and new versions appear on the buyer's Downloads page.
Envato's refund rules say a refund is expected when an item isn't as described, doesn't work, has a security flaw that can't easily be fixed, or comes without support that was promised. They exclude changing your mind, buying by mistake and lacking the expertise to use the item. For supported CodeCanyon items, refunds aren't available after 180 days. The author decides first; if you disagree, Envato can review the case, and its decision is final.
On our side, the draft terms include 12 months of updates and 6 months of integration support. Our refund policy is still being drafted; the pricing page shows the current draft. Every package must pass a clean-room check before it goes on sale: unpacked outside our repository, it has to install from its frozen lockfile, build, typecheck and pass its own tests. All 50 passed in October 2026.
What's in our download
Each ZIP holds the complete project for one game: a README with install, build, test and deploy steps, third-party notices, a manifest of every file with its SHA-256 checksum, package.json and pnpm-lock.yaml, the game's source, data, assets and tests, and the shared packages it uses. You build it with Node.js and pnpm. Changing balance and content is mostly editing JSON data files; deeper changes need TypeScript.
When CodeCanyon is the better choice
- You need a genre we don't make. The HTML5 blackjack search above returned 21 results in October 2026, mostly casino card games, including 3D blackjack, baccarat and poker titles. Our catalog has no casino games.
- You work in Construct. Many CodeCanyon games are Construct 2 or Construct 3 projects. Ours are code-first TypeScript projects, which suit developers more than visual-editor users.
- You want the widest choice. Thousands of items against our 50, with a lowest price band of $4–$14.
- You want social proof on the listing. Sales counts and buyer comments help you judge an item before buying.
- You make one free product and already buy on Envato. One account, one checkout and a license system you know.
When buying direct makes more sense
- You want Phaser 4 or Three.js with TypeScript, tests and data-driven tuning, with the same structure in every game. Browse by engine: Phaser games or Three.js games.
- You build for several clients or brands. Our Extended license covers up to 5 end products from one game; an Envato license covers one.
- You run your own game portal on up to 3 domains your company owns.
- You plan to monetize with ads or paid access, which Standard allows.
- You want a game nobody else has. We build exclusive games on request: the brief is free and you pay only if we accept it.
Frequently asked questions
Is CodeCanyon a good place to buy HTML5 game source code?
It's a large one, with over 8,800 HTML5 games from independent authors. Quality, documentation and support vary by author, so check the live preview, comments and support status of each item. It's a strong choice for Construct projects and for genres such as casino games that we don't make.
Does CodeCanyon sell HTML5 3D blackjack and casino games?
Yes. A search for HTML5 blackjack in October 2026 returned 21 results, most of them casino card games, including 3D blackjack, baccarat and poker titles. We don't sell casino games.
Can I use one CodeCanyon game for several clients?
Not with one license. Envato licenses are limited to a single end product, and its license FAQ says there's no multi-client license for code items, so you'd buy one license per end product. Our Extended license covers up to 5 end products, including client work.
How do support and refunds compare?
On CodeCanyon, supported items come with 6 months of support from the author, extendable to 12, and refunds follow Envato's rules for up to 180 days. Our draft terms include 6 months of integration support and 12 months of updates, and our refund policy is still being drafted.
We make and sell HTML5 game source code; links to our games are marked as ours.
